Communion Bread/Cracker/Cookie?

Ok, so before you ask me why the heck I am talking about baking communion bread, let me explain. Ever since I was a little girly, we would have this special bread at my church. I never had any clue as to what it really was. Bread? Cracker? Cookie? It was such a unique and wonderful taste. In fact, it was so good that we used to go around to all the tables when we were done, and scarf it all up. Yes, I'm not sure if we really understood the meaning then. It was just darn tasty.

As you can see above, the recipe is now located in the "Lauren's Family Cookbook." (Compliments of my mother last Christmas). I found the recipe in an ancient Church Cookbook and thought it necessary to make it every communion in my dad's new church. The recipe involves many odd steps, but the end result is taasssstyyy.

Communion Bread/Cracker/Cookie? Recipe
Items Needed:

2 1/4 cup flour

One stick softened butter

3 Tablespoons sugar

1/4 cup cream

1/3 cup milk

pinch of salt

Directions:

1. In large mixing bowl, combine flour, butter, sugar, and salt.

2. Slowly add milk and cream
3. On greased cookie sheet, roll out dough (the thickness is your decision...I like it thicker
4. Cut into rows (cutting the dough only half way through.) Then, cut the dough again (as shown in the above pictures....into 1x3 inch crackers. Pierce 5 holes in each side of the cracker. (The 5 holes represent the five ways Jesus was pierced)
5. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30-45 minutes (depending on thickness)
6. Take out of the oven and separate into pieces before cooled. Store in airtight container.
